Our May meeting was our Annual Resolution meeting. This happens nationally and this year‘s resolution was ‘Mental Health Matters’. The NFWI is urging all members to recognise the importance of parity between mental health and physical health and take action to make it acceptable to talk about mental health issues as much as physical health issues and to lobby Government for better support for mental illness. After the resolution was put to our members it was discussed and we voted to support this resolution.
We had also decided to celebrate the forthcoming Royal Wedding and members came along dressed in red, white and blue, in tiaras, union jack outfits and two members even wore their wedding dresses!! The homemade canapes and fizz were delicious and also helped to set the tone.
Our meeting on June 12th is a talk by Pete Allen “Mr Garrick’s fireside-A personal history of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane” – all are welcome.
